My RHCE / RHCSA exam adventure...

Two weeks ago I started studying for the RHCSA and quite possibly, if successful the RHCE.

Thus far I have made it through Chapter 2 of Michael Jang's Cert study guide.

I do not have a timeline.. I should but I don't.. I have a horrible reputation of starting things and not finishing them. My goal is to become obsessed with this until I complete at least the RHCSA.

I was stuck for about a week due to using a buggy ISO of RHEL 6.3.. which I could not find a way around due to my inability to access the RH network due to cost constraints.

I tried running the KVM / QEMU on several machines, firstly an old Sony VAIO core2duo.
Second, my Macbook Pro running VMFusion.
Third, my ESX server I use for lab tests at work.
Fourth, my co-workers ESX server lab at work.
Fifth, my Mac X server using VMFusion.

They all resulted in the same error, which I have now concluded is a known RHEL burt within 6.x.

'qemu:///system': internal error Cannot find suitable emulator for x86_64'

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=726167

And yes hardware VT was enabled within each attempt :)

Finally I stepped back and reanalyzed my situation and reverted to using CentOS 6.3

This is where I am now. KVM is successful and I shall be commencing forward with the labs today, if I can bring myself to be motivated enough to do so.
